    Hardcover with printed pages in publisher’s original blue cloth with gilt ‘When We Were Very Young’, ‘A. A. Milne’ and Methuen logo on the spine, decoration on the upper board and top edges gilt. No dust jacket. Contains black and white illustrations by E. H. Shepard.

    Published by Methuen & Co.

    The book is signed with pen on the first page to the top left corner:-

    ‘To Davis H.S. from Eand(?) J.L.S., Dec 7th 1925, from M.M.J.C.S(?)’

    The A.A. Milne ‘When We Were Very Young’ book contains forty-four poems. Several of the verses were set to music by Harold Fraser-Simson. The book begins with an introduction entitled Just Before We Begin which in part tells the reader to imagine for themselves who the narrator is, and that it might be Christopher Robin. The thirty-eighth poem in the book, Teddy Bear, that originally appeared in the Punch magazine in 1924 was the first appearance of the famous character Winnie-the-Pooh.

    The book 7.5 inches (19cm) high by 5.25 inches (13.5cm) wide.

    It weights 335 grams.

    It has 99 pages.

    ~ Condition ~

    The book is in very decent condition. The binding is tight, and the boards are crisp with minor wear to the edges and spine. The pages are clean with no writing or marks (apart from inscription mentioned above). Overall a lovely copy with minimal age wear. The dust jacket is not present.
