~ William L. Wyllie Signed Etching - Escorting A Convoy Up The Channel ~

A lovely quality signed etching by the noted maritime artist William Lionel Wyllie (1851 – 1931) titled 'Escorting A Convoy Up The Channel' or simply 'The Convoy'.

The piece is signed in pencil by the artist to the bottom left hand corner just below the image.

The piece has been mounted and is presented in a glazed frame.

~ Dimensions ~

The etching measures 25cm (9 ¾ inches) by 14.5cm (5 ¾ inches).

The frame measures 44cm (17 ¼ inches) by 34.5cm (13 ½ inches).

It weighs 1.15 Kg

~ Condition ~

The piece is in a great condition with no damage.

The mount and frame are in sound condition.

~ William Wyllie ~

William Lionel Wyllie (5 July 1851 – 6 April 1931) also known as W L Wyllie was a prolific English painter of maritime themes. He has been described as ‘The most distinguished marine artist of his day’.

His work is in the Tate, the Royal Academy, the Imperial War Museum, the National Maritime Museum and many other institutions around the world.
