A signed etching by William L. Wyllie titled ‘Windy Corner’ depicting the Battle of Jutland on 31 May 1916.
The title ‘Windy Corner’ comes from the name given to a phase in the Battle of Jutland when the British Grand Fleet executed
complex manoeuvres.
The etching apparently depicts the British position at 18.30.
Admiral John Jellicoe’s fleet flagship ‘Iron Duke’ to the centre, seen in broad port-quarter view, with the destroyer ‘Oak’, keeping
station on her disengaged side and the German fleet on the horizon hidden by smoke.
The piece is signed in pencil by the artist just below the bottom left hand corner of the etching.
The etching is presented in a glazed vintage wood frame.
