*WW1, Hungarian M1895 Bayonet, Cavalry Variant*
Bayonet designed for the 8 mm. M1895 Mannlicher straight-pull rifle, extensively manufactured before and during World War I. It boasts a well-constructed fullered reversed blade and wooden grips securely fastened to the blade tang. Notably, the M1895 bayonet was the pioneering knife bayonet with an inverted blade profile, positioning the cutting edge upward when fixed.
This is a particularly rare bayonet as it is the cavalry variant, featuring an additional front sight on the muzzle ring. The ricasso bears the marking FG GY, signifying Fegyver es Gepgyar Reszvenytarsasag (Weapon and Machinery Factory Company) trademarks from Budapest. It is also imprinted with the number 67 on the crosspiece and displays the Hungarian Coat of Arms on the obverse side.
Measures approx 356mm with a 243mm blade.
