~ WW2 Cast Aluminium Model Of A Grumman TBF Avenger On Stand ~
A cast aluminium model on a stand of a ‘ Grumman TBF Avenger’ dating to the Second World War.
The model would have been made by the ground crew in their spare time during the war.
The model is that of a ‘Grumman TBF Avenger’ an American torpedo bomber, the most effective and widely-used torpedo bomber of
World War II.
The Avenger was developed initially for the United States Navy and Marine Corps, but was eventually used by several air and naval
aviation services around the world.
The Avenger entered U.S. service in 1942, and first saw action during the Battle of Midway. It was widely-used throughout World War II
and remained in use until the 1960s (though greatly modified after the war).
The model is of cast aluminium and rests (and freely pivots) on a later thin metal rod attached to a rectangular green marble base.

On stand it has a height of 15cm (6 inches).

The model is otherwise in a nice order with only light wear commensurate with age.
