~ WWI First World War period RFC RAF Royal Flying Corps Helmet, Goggles And Photograph Of Owner ~
The helmet is of leather construction, with a woollen interior and leather chinstrap.
The goggles also of leather construction, with aluminium framed glass lenses.
They come with a photograph postcard (presumably of the original owner) which is stamped ‘ 35 Squadron – Royal Flying Corps ‘ to reverse.
~ 35 Squadron ~
No. 35 Squadron was formed on 1 February 1916 at Thetford, training as a Corps reconnaissance squadron. In January 1917 the squadron moved to France, equipped with the Armstrong Whitworth F.K.8, beginning operations during the Battle of Arras, working alongside the Cavalry Corps, throughout 1917 (which later resulted in the Pegasus winged horses head in the Squadrons’ badge). It re-equipped with Bristol Fighters in the later part of 1918, before returning to RAF Netheravon in March 1919 and then disbanding on 26 June 1919.
~ Condition ~
The leather remains supple, there is a tear on one of the chinstraps. The goggles have clear un-cracked lenses with wear to the leather. The photograph is quite faded.

The cap is 31 cm (12.25 inches) fore to aft.
