The watch on strap has a length of 25cm (9 ¾ inches) and weighs 32g.
~ Condition ~
The watch is not currently waterproofed and would need resealing by a professional, though this is quite a simple job which can be done at most jewellers/watch repairers. We do not recommend getting the watch wet until this is done.
The watch has light general wear but no significant marks. The dial is clean and the crystal has only tiny light scratches barely visible to the naked eye.
The watch is in good working order.
~ Nivada Grenchen & The Antarctic Watch ~
Nivada Grenchen are a quality timepiece manufacturers founded in 1926 in Grenchen, Switzerland.
In the United States of America (USA), the Croton Company distributed all Nivada Grenchen watches. The timepieces can have either the Nivada Grenchen or Croton signature, or both.
In 1930, Nivada Grenchen was one of the first companies to manufacture automatic watches. This led to the creation of Nivada Grenchen’s first waterproof automatic watch called the Antarctic in 1950. The watch was worn by the members of the American Navy’s Deep Freeze 1 during their expedition to the South Pole from 1955 to 1956.
