A bronze badge from Royal Navy shore establishment HMS Vernon.

HMS Vernon was a shore establishment or "stone frigate" of the Royal Navy. Vernon was established on 26 April 1876 as the Royal
Navy's Torpedo Branch also known as the Torpedo School, named after the ship HMS Vernon which served as part of its floating base.
After the First World War, HMS Vernon moved ashore, taking over the Gunwharf site in Portsmouth, where it continued to operate
until 1 April 1996.

The crest is of circular form with a rope border. To the centre are two crossed torpedoes in silver over a mine in red and gold on a
black ground.

The badge is mounted (via screw through three mounting holes) to a crudely fashioned wood mount.

~ Dimensions ~

The badge has a diameter of 16.5cm (6 ½ inches).

The mount measures 19.5cm (7 ¾ inches) by 27cm (10 ½ inches).

It weighs 1.45Kg.

~ Condition ~

The rope border ha some wear in parts. The paint has some chips and wear.

Overall the badge is in a nice condition and presents well.
