*Impressive Senior Service British Army/UN/Nato Service Medal Bar - 11 Medals*

From Left to right:
1: The General Service Medal (GSM) 1962-2007 is awarded to Army, RAF, Royal Navy and Royal Marines personnel. This one has a GSM clasp for service in Northern Ireland.

2: The Gulf Medal was awarded to personnel for service in the areas of operations in the Middle East.

The colours of the ribbon represent the desert landscape and the three services. The clasp says '16 Jan to 28 Feb 1991', for which the applicant must have: Seven days' continuous service between 16 Jan and 28 Feb 1991. Served in the area of operations as defined in the regulations.

3.UNFICYP UNITED NATIONS PEACEKEEPING FORCE IN CYPRUS
The medal has three equal bars, one of white in the centre and two of UN blue at either end. The bars are separated by two narrow bands of dark blue symbolizing the Mediterranean Sea. Qualifying time for the medal is three months of service in the Mission.

4. UNPROFOR THE UNITED NATIONS PROTECTION FORCE
The colour combination of the ribbon for the medals and bars consists of a background of UN blue, with a central wide band of red, representing the United Nations Protected Areas (UNPAs), flanked by thin stripes of the white. On the left side there is a narrow band of green, representing forests, and on the right side, a narrow band of brown, representing the mountains. Ninety days of qualifying time is required for the award.

5. The NATO Medal awarded to military and civilian personnel who are, or have been, engaged in operations, or in direct support of operations conducted by NATO in the Former Yugoslavia. Clasp says 'Former Yugoslavia'.

6. The Iraq medal is awarded to personnel who completed operational service in Iraq between 20 January 2003 and 22 May 2011. The clasp says "19 Mar to 28th Apr 2002".

7.The Operational Service Medal (OSM) Afghanistan is awarded to personnel who complete operational service on or in support of, operations in Afghanistan from 11 September 2001.

The colours of the ribbon represent the landscape of Afghanistan and the three services.

8. The Golden Jubilee Medal was awarded to personnel to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's accession.

The medal is issued unnamed.

9. The Diamond Jubilee Medal was awarded to personnel to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's accession.

The medal is issued unnamed.

10. Meritorious Service Medal (MSM) is a British medal awarded to sergeants and warrant officers of the British armed forces for long and meritorious service. To be awarded the MSM, an individual must have "good, faithful, valuable and meritorious service, with conduct judged to be irreproachable throughout". Other ranks must have at least twenty years service, must already hold Long Service and Good Conduct Medals, and for the Army and the Royal Air Force must have reached the equivalent rank of sergeant. Officers of any service can also be considered for the medal immediately after being commissioned, provided they meet the other criteria.

The number of MSMs awarded is limited: no more than fifty-one a year may be awarded in the Royal Navy and Royal Marines combined, eighty-nine in the Army and sixty in the Royal Air Force

11. The Long Service and Good Conduct (LSGC) Medal for the Army is awarded to personnel in recognition of long service.

To qualify, applicants must have, among other requirements, 15 years' reckonable service in the Army.
