*WW1, 1915, German, Emil Busch A-G Rathenow, Fernglas 08, Military Binoculars, metal cap and strap*
WW1 German military binoculars, with object lens metal dual cap and leather strap. The binoculars have been stamped ‘Fernglas 08, Emil Busch A-G Rathenow, No 56869’. The manufacturers were Emil Busch AG Rathenow. The “Fernglas 08” binoculars were commissioned by the German Government in 1908, hence the suffix “08” and became the standard German infantry binoculars on all fronts in WW1 and were produced by a multitude of sub-contracted manufacturers. Fernglas 08 are Galilei type binoculars with a cast alloy body and a field of view of 77.4 m/1000m. Stamped on the bridge is “11.15” which means that this pair was made in November 1915. The engraved “K” on the right hinge arm stands for: Proof of testing by the Rifle Testing Commission (GPK), Spandau.
Emil Busch (1820-1888), took charge of his family’s optical firm in Rathenow in 1845, and renamed it Emil Busch A.G. in 1872. It became Emil Busch A.G. Optische Industrie in 1908.

There is a small chip to the left eyeglass rim but it does not effect the functionality. The original paint is patchy commensurate with the age and service of these binoculars. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
