This lovely antique writing slope is in beautiful coromandel wood with brass banding, corners and lock plate.

It has a brass plate to the top inscribed ‘Presented To Mr William Richards, Barry Dock, By His Fellow Workmen As A
Slight Token Of Their Respect & Esteem, Oct. 30th 1899’.

When opened the piece reveals a leather writing slope (sadly damaged) with gilt decorative edging.

Lift the slope to reveal two storage areas and also secret drawers behind a spring loaded panel which is accessed via
the nib tray.

There is a stationary rack to the front as well as pencil and nib trays.

~ Dimensions ~

The piece measures 45cm (17 ¾ inches) by 26cm (10 ¼ inches) with a height of 19cm (7 ½ inches).

When open and laid out the piece has a length of 53cm (20 ¾ inches).

It weighs 4.77 Kg.

~ Condition ~

The leather of the slope is damaged and has split all the way along the middle seam so one half of the slope is not
attached. Ideally this will need repairing although the piece is still somewhat functional in its present state.

There are a couple of small chips to the wood and one of the brass fittings that hold the leather slope in place is
missing.

The outside of the box has a chip to one side, some cracking/splitting of the finish to the front and other minor signs of
wear including scuffing of brass fittings but is in generally good condition.

The engraved brass plate is a little scratched.

The item does not have its key.
