An attempt was made to remove the evidence of the Nazi stamp i.e. The Eagle & Swastika, one was removed but the evidence of the other can be clearly seen.

The oval bowls come with a 2017 dated letter of provenance stating they were smuggled into England at the end of WW2 by an Austrian soldier who removed them from Hitlers Bavarian retreat at Berchtesgaden famously known as The Eagles Nest. The bowls were then given to the previous owners partents by the Austrian soldier and his wife as refugees around 1946.
