This fine watercolour on paper by Colin M. Baxter (British, Master Mariner, born 1963) depicts Porchester Castle around the year 1890 at high tide with laiden sailing barges and figures in a rowing boat. It is signed to the lower left. The painting is well presented in a wooden frame which is glazed and has double lined mounts.

Porchester Castle on the South coast of Hampshire is the best preserved Roman castle in Northern Europe.
