*German, WW2, Boxed NSDAP 25 Years Faithful Service Medal*
The Faithful Service Decoration was established by Adolf Hitler on January 30, 1938, to honor long-serving civil servants and public employees in recognition of their dedicated service. It was awarded in three classes: a special class for fifty years of service with the same employer in the private sector, the 1st Class decoration for forty years of service, and the 2nd Class decoration for twenty-five years of service. Although the design remained consistent across the three classes, there were minor variations in detailing.
The 2nd Class award, described here, is made of die-struck alloy with nickel-silver plated highlights, a frosted white finish, and a black enamel swastika at its center. The reverse bears the inscription "Für Treue Dienste" (For Faithful Service). The decoration comes with a cornflower blue ribbed rayon ribbon, which has a pin-back attachment stitched to its reverse. This particular example is housed in a red simulated leather case with a "25" encircled by a cogged wheel embossed in silver on the lid. The interior features a red felt lining with a slotted crossbar to secure the decoration, and the inside lid bears the manufacturer's label, "Roman Palme Metall-kunstwaren Gablonz an der Neiße."
The Faithful Service Decoration, introduced by Hitler in 1938, was designed to honor civil servants and public employees for 25, 40, and 50 years of service. Although the Nazi regime only lasted 12 years, the award was granted retroactively to individuals whose service predated 1938, allowing them to be credited for their previous years of work and making many eligible for the 25- and 40-year awards. This enabled the regime to recognize long-standing service despite its shorter duration in power.
