~ Victorian 28th Regiment Of Foot Shako Plate ~
Here we have a Victorian shako plate marked to the 28th Regiment of Foot.
The 28th at the time would have been known as the North Gloucestershire Regiment and served in numerous campaigns including the Crimean and a stint of service in India.
The badge is made of brass that has been stamped from a sheet and had the inserts cut out. It is a wreathed 28 topped by the Queens crown with ‘Honi soit qui mal y pense’ around the 28. The badge has two lugs for a split pin on the rear face.
This badge has had someone replace the red felt backing to the number.
