~ Silver Rimmed Doulton Lambeth Stoneware Pottery Jug c1897 ~
A good looking stoneware jug by Doulton Lambeth with a sterling silver rim.
The jug has decoration of blue moulded flowers with incised stems on a light brown ribbed ground.
It has blue bands with moulded floral decoration to the shoulder and foot.
The rim is mounted with a band of sterling silver.
The silver is hallmarked for London, 1897 and has a makers mark for ‘William Hutton & Sons Ltd’.
The underside of the jug is stamped ‘Doulton Lambeth England’ and has a ‘pattern’ number of ‘4979’.
~ Dimensions ~
The jug has a diameter of 10cm (4 inches) and measures 13cm (5 inches) from handle to spout.
It has a height of 18cm (7 inches) and weighs 575g.
~ Condition ~
There appears to be the remains of a hinge to the silver rim so we can assume that the jug once had a hinged lid, long since gone. Aside from this the
silver is in good condition.
The jug is in a very good condition with just a little wear in parts to the glaze but no major damage.
