~ Royal Doulton Lord Nelson 1905 Trafalgar Centenary Loving Cup ~
A fine two handled stoneware cup Issued by Royal Doulton on the centenary of the battle of Trafalgar.
The cup is beautifully moulded and hand painted with navy blue, sky blue, brown and mottled green and brown glazes.
There are 2 medallion shaped patterns on either side of the cup, surrounded by a rope decoration with crown atop.
One side of the cup has a portrait in relief of Nelson with the words: ‘Lord Nelson, Born-1758, Died-1805’ to either side while the reverse reads ‘England
expects every man will do his duty’.
The cup is stamped to the base for ‘Royal Doulton England’, with the serial no. of ‘X6425’.
There are also initials of ‘GS’ & ‘BH’.

The cup is 14.5cm (5 ¾ inches) tall, with a diameter of 11cm (4 ¼ inches) and a width (across the handles) of 18cm (7 inches).
It weighs 830g.

There are three small firing cracks from the time of manufacture to front, reverse and by the handle but otherwise the cup is in excellent condition.
