~ 24 Inch Circa 1900 German Armand Marseille Bisque Head Doll 318/8K ~
This bisque headed and composite bodied doll has weighted closing blue eyes and articulated joints at the torso. The red painted mouth is slightly opened to reveal two white tooth. The doll is impressed to the back of her head “A.M Germany 318/8.K”
She has been dressed in a white sleeping gown with under slip and a pair of short trousers fashioned from a length of material. The clothes are reasonably modern.
~ Armand Marseille ~
Armand Marseille was one of the most prolific German bisque doll manufacturers. He founded his doll company in 1885 in Thuringia in southern Germany, a state that became well known for its ceramic and doll factories.
~ Dimensions ~
The doll is 24 inches (60.9 cm) tall by approx. 9 inches (22.8 cm) wide. The total weight is 1.94 kg.
~ Condition ~
The doll is in a good vintage state.
The head has a few marks and scratches, which has caused some minor damage to the glaze. There is a small crack to the neck, just underneath the maker impression. The body has some age wearing but remains in excellent order. It retails all of its toes & fingers.
* Note, when originally listed the dolls eyes were in place. Since then, whilst in storage the eyes and mechanism have come loose. They are still present but are somewhere inside the head. They could however potentially be fixed back into place.
