*German, WW2, Occupation FN Browning Hi-Power (GP-35) Semi-Automatic Pistol, WaA140 Waffenamt Marked, Belgium, EU Deactivated*

An original Second World War German occupation-production FN Browning Hi-Power / GP-35 semi-automatic pistol manufactured at Fabrique Nationale, Herstal, Belgium, retaining wartime Waffenamt inspection marks together with later Birmingham Proof House EU/UK deactivation certification.

The pistol is marked to the slide “FABRIQUE NATIONALE D’ARMES DE GUERRE / HERSTAL BELGIQUE / BROWNING’S PATENT DÉPOSÉ” and retains the desirable tangent rear sight, lanyard ring configuration, and chequered walnut wooden grip panels associated with early military production Hi-Powers. Belgian Liège smokeless proof marks are present, including the Lion over PV device together with Star over A inspection marks. The slide additionally bears the German WaA140 Waffenamt inspection stamp beneath the muzzle area, confirming Wehrmacht acceptance during German occupation production at FN Herstal.

Research and visible serial numbering indicate the pistol is assembled from wartime FN occupation-production components. The frame is numbered 3815, representing an early occupation-production component likely dating to circa 1941, while the slide bears the later suffix-block serial 10601 b, consistent with later German-controlled FN production circa 1943–1944. The pistol therefore represents a historically interesting wartime or post-war arsenal rebuild / refurbishment example assembled from authentic German occupation-era parts.

The pistol retains its original wartime appearance with heavily worn finish, service wear, and honest age throughout. Magazine included. Accompanied by Birmingham Gun Barrel Proof House deactivation certificate no. 191695 dated 19/01/2026 confirming current UK/EU specification deactivation.

Approx. Measurements – Barrel length: 4.5 inches.

History Note:
Following the German occupation of Belgium in 1940, Fabrique Nationale at Herstal continued production of the Browning Hi-Power under Wehrmacht supervision. These occupation-produced pistols were issued to German military, police and Waffen-SS units and are identifiable by their Waffenamt inspection marks and FN factory legends. The WaA140 acceptance mark found on this example was applied by German military inspectors supervising wartime production at the FN Herstal factory in occupied Belgium. Many surviving examples were later rebuilt, reworked or mixed from wartime components during post-war military and police service across Europe.

*Condition*
The pistol displays heavy overall service wear with much original finish worn to bright metal, scattered oxidation, scratches, handling marks and areas of light surface pitting visible throughout. Markings and Waffenamt stamps remain visible. The original chequered walnut wooden grip panels remain intact, showing expected age-related wear, minor service marks, and softening to the chequering consistent with operational use, but remain free of major cracks or splits. Tangent rear sight and lanyard ring present. Magazine included. EU deactivated to current specification and supplied with Birmingham Proof House certificate dated 2026. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
