~ 1935 Royal Doulton Nelson Loving Cup ~
This large ceramic jug has images of Nelson onboard HMS Victory to one side and HMS Victory engaging the enemy with a broadside to the other, all in high relief and cheerful colours. The twin handles – hence the term loving cup – mimic ships blocks and rope, a nice touch. It was designed by Fenton & Noke.
As noted by the back stamp 600 were originally issued, this one is number 188.
It comes with an un-associated wooden stand, which probably originally had a Japanese vase on it.
It also comes with a 1986 letter from Royal Doulton, giving a little bit of information about the jugs history.
~ Condition ~
The jug is in excellent condition, free from chips and cracks. The un associated stand has an area of loss to the underside.
~ Dimensions ~
The jug is 26 cm (10.25 inches) tall and is 28 cm (11 inches) across the handles. The jug weighs 1.97 Kg.
