~ 1930’s Oak Platform Escapement Dial Clock HMS Sussex ~
The white painted dial of the clock has black Roman numerals and a spade hours hand. It is set within a rounded oak surround and it is fitted with brass rimmed glass over the enamel dial.
Beneath the 6 o’clock position reads ‘Made In England’.
A plaque is attached to the case and reads ‘Presented To The R.N. Hospital, Malta by H.M.S. Sussex’.
The case has the traditional salt box to the reverse to house the movement, it is of oak and laminated wood construction and is glued to the clock face.

HMS Sussex was one of the London sub-class of the County-class heavy cruisers in the Royal Navy. She was laid down by R. and W. Hawthorn, Leslie and Company, Limited, at Hebburn-on-Tyne on 1 February 1927, launched on 22 February 1928 and completed on 19 March 1929.

The clockface has a diameter of 10 inches (25.3 cm), with the case having a diameter of 13.5 inches (34.3 cm). It has a depth of 4.8 inches (12 cm). It weighs 2.7 kg.
~ Condition ~
The clock has been serviced and keeps good time.
The glass has minimum wear.
The wood appears to be in a good condition, with no chipping and only some minor surface wear.
The clock face is in a fair condition, with all the numbers and markings very much visible and some amount of scratching.
