A nice quality half hunter 9ct gold pocket watch by J.W. Benson Ltd of London dated 1936 in its original case.
The cover has a clear opening surrounded by an enamel painted dial with Roman numeral hours allowing you to check the time without having to open the case.
The watch is of plain gold to the reverse.
The watch has a white enamel dial with Arabic numerals and two gold hands. There is a seconds dial at the six o’clock position.
The dial is named ‘J.W. Benson, London’ and also reads ‘Swiss Made’ to the lower edge.
The watch has a 15 Jewels mechanical movement named ‘J.W. Benson’ and also reading ‘Swiss Made’. It is also marked ‘Ref 748’ and ‘6872’.
The watch is hallmarked to all component parts for 9ct gold, London, 1936 with the makers mark ‘JWB’.
The case is marked both front and reverse with the serial no. ‘596872’.
The watch comes in its original silk & velvet lined leatherette case from J.W. Benson Ltd.

The case has a diameter of 45mm while the dial has a diameter of 37mm.
It weighs 64.6g (162g including case).
~ Condition ~
The dial has a couple of small hair-line cracks and a little damage between the 4 and 5 o’clock position, though this doesn’t affect the overall look of the dial.
The case is free from damage with only a few light marks as to be expected of a pre-owned item of this age.
The watch overall is in a great condition and is in good working order.
