~ A Pair of Chinese Cloisonne Decorative Eggs c1870 ~
The enamel on brass pair have been decorated with the same elaborate floral pattern. The colours on these pieces are vibrant and strong with the use of yellow, red, purple and blue. These are very pretty items.
The presence of tiny bubbles in the the surface of the enamel indicates that the piece has been constructed using soldered wires to separate the various panels. This dates the pieces to the 19th century, if not earlier.
~ Dimensions ~
Each egg is approximately 4 inches (10cm) long.
~ Condition ~
One of the eggs has sustained two knocks which has damaged the enamel on a petal of the main purple flower and a smaller yellow flower near the top. Please see images for details on this.
