An Engraved Copper Plate of Patriotic & Coronation Poetry Circa 1911
The plate reads..
King Of Our Hearts To-Day (June 22nd 1911)
111
Long Long within our empire,
In every hut or hall.
May hearts of native proof aspire
To guard each hallowed wall.
Eternal one stand by us,
In storm and stress and strife;
One king, one flag, victorious,
One faith in thee our life.
Chorus: One love for thee &c.
IV
Extra peace verse for the National Anthem
Oh God our cry for peace.
And prayer, that war may cease,
Do thou lord hear;
Then shall we thee adore,
And praise thee evermore,
Singing with heart and voice,
God save the King.
I
May god almighty crown thee,
King of our motherland,
With his own voice guide thee,
Lead thee by his own hand,
With length of life endow thee,
Thy happiness secure,
By that true love and sympathy,
Which loyal hearts ensure.
II
We Children of your empire.
Bless you King George today,
Joining each church and spire,
The bells sweet melody,
But while King George we Bless you,
On Coronation day,
Think not that we are less true,
To our queen Empress May.
Chorus
One love for thee shall bind us,
This heart that binds the mind,
One king, one flag victorious,
Shall bind and link mankind.
