This beautiful late Victorian Jewellery box has a walnut veneer with a dark ebonised finish to the edges.

The lid has a gilt metal cartouche and the keyhole has a matching escutcheon, though in gilt wood.

The box opens to reveal a partitioned tray with two partitioned drawers below.

The lid has a padded silk interior.

The box comes with its original key, though unfortunately the lock is not in working order.

~ Dimensions ~

The box measures 34cm (13 ¼ inches) by 25cm (9 ¾ inches) with a height of 21.5cm (8 ½ inches).

It weighs 9 Kg

~ Condition ~

There is a small split to the veneer to the front, a second larger split to the lid and a further small split to the reverse below the hinge.

The box has a little wear in parts commensurate with age but overall is in very nice condition.

As mentioned the lock is not currently working. It is fixed on the open position which holds the lid and front flap in place, so is still very usable.
