~ Birmingham 1924 Three Piece Silver Tea Set ~
A fine three piece tea set in silver dating to 1924.
The set comprises of a teapot with matching sugar bowl & milk jug.
Each piece is plain to the upper half with fluted decoration to the lower half.
The teapot has a hinged domed cover with fluting decoration and ebonised wood finial. and has an angular ebonised wood handle.
The other pieces also have angular handles, but of silver.
The pieces are all hallmarked for silver, Birmingham, 1924 and have a makers mark of ‘AGS’.
Each is stamped to the base ‘A. Fischer & Co Ld, Port Elizabeth’.
~ Dimensions ~
The milk jug measures 11cm (4 ½ inches) from handle to spout and has a height of 7cm (2 ¾ inches).
The sugar bowl measures 13cm (5 inches) in width across the handles and has a height of 9cm (3 ½ inches).
The teapot measures 20.5cm (8 inches) from handle to spout and has a height of 14cm (5 ½ inches).
The set weighs 380g.
~ Condition ~
The teapot has a dent and small scratch and some damage to the finial but is in very good condition otherwise.
The milk jug has a dark mark to the inside base, but otherwise the milk and sugar pieces are in a very nice condition with minimal wear.
