Beret made of bottle green wool with a black cottonlining, black leather headband and silk draw threads ending in a bow. 2 Eye holes with 2 eye holes and eyelets and leather protector in place at 9 o’Clock.
The WRAC features the lioness within a wreath, surmounted by a crown.
Beret – Cap Marked 6 3/4, Beret Industries Ltd 1953, with a War Arrow. Surrounded by a double row of stitching in a diamond pattern. Also marked inside the brim with a J, War Arrow flanked by WD over SOQ – J was the WD code for 1953.
The Woman’s Royal Army Corps Formed was formed in 1949 from the AAC and ATS. Its members undertook a variety of roles until 1992, it was integrated into the Adjutant General’s Corps. Since World War II members of the WRAC have played a full part in many of the operations, emergencies, security threats and incidents involving the British Army worldwide such as: Malaya 1948 – 1960, Kenya in 1954, the EOKA campaign in Cyprus from 1955 – 1959, the Singapore riots in 1957, Aden from 1961 – 1968, the Coup d’Etat in Ghana in 1966 and the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974.
