Due to its long service life it is now ubiquitous with the British Army in the Cold War period. Like its WW2 counterpart, the jacket is made from khaki coloured wool serge and features green coloured vegetable ivory (plastic) buttons throughout. Fitted with cloth shoulder titles for the Royal Artillery, and Crown shoulder pips for the rank of major and British Army EIIR War Office Controlled Units Formation Sign on either arm. Inside the jacket the original label is still present and states the maker as Albion Ltd, Belfast.
The War Department acceptance stamp can be found adjacent to the makers label which is surmounted by the letter ‘L’ which denotes the year of issue.
