HMS Stygian (P249) was a British Royal Navy S-class submarine, notable for being the only vessel to carry the name. While part of the fourth group of S-class submarines, it was fitted with the external stern torpedo tube found in the third group. It was built by Cammell Laird in 1943.
Commissioned under Lt. G.S.C. Clarabut, Stygian served in the Pacific with the Eastern Fleet during World War II. She had a brief yet active career, sinking eight Japanese sailing vessels, five coasters, and six unidentified ships, along with the Nichinan Maru. She also sank the Japanese auxiliary minesweeper Wa 104 and damaged the submarine chaser Cha 104. Additionally, Stygian towed midget submarine XE-3 during the attack on the Japanese cruiser Takao in Operation Struggle.
After the war, Stygian was sold for scrap on 28 October 1949 and dismantled in August 1950.
