*British, WW2, The Burma Star Medal, with Ribbon*
The Burma WWII Star was awarded for service in the Burma Campaign between 11 Dec 1941 and 2 Sep 1945. To qualify for the medal, individuals must have completed 1 or more days operational service in the Burma campaign between 11th December 1941 and the 2nd September 1945. Service in China, Hong Kong, Malaya and Sumatra can also count but only within the specific dates of certain campaigns in those regions. RAF and Royal Navy personnel on active operations within specific boundaries of the Bay of Bengal area would also qualify.
Campaign medals were instituted by the United Kingdom on 8 July 1943 – the first being the 1939–43 Star (later named the 1939–1945 Star) and the Africa Star. By May 1945, a total of eight campaign stars and nine clasps had been instituted by the United Kingdom to acknowledge wartime service. Later additions included the Arctic Star and the Bomber Command Clasp, introduced on 26 February 2013. A maximum of six campaign stars could be awarded to any individual, with certain clasps signifying eligibility for additional stars. However, only one clasp could be worn on each campaign star.
