~ c1830 White Metal Lidded Tobacco Jar With Kings Crow Motif ~
A white metal lidded tobacco jar with a Kings Crown (William IV) motif dated 1831.
The tobacco jar is made of a white metal with a high shine.
It is of octagonal form with concave sides.
To the front and reverse are yellow metal crown badges.
It has two metal ring handles of octagonal form hanging from pierced bullet like finials.
The jar has a pointed lid with finial similar to that on the sides.
The underside of the jar is stamped with the initials ‘WR’ and the date ‘1831’.
~ Dimensions ~
The jar measures 9cm (3 ½ inches) by 9cm (3 ½ inches) and has a height of 14.5cm (5 ¾ inches) including lid).
It weighs 610g.
~ Condition ~
The jar has a few light marks but is otherwise undamaged.
The polished finish has some darkening in parts but this just gives it a lovely patina.
