~ c1852 Wellington Commemorative Patch Box ~
The cylindrical box is made from dark ebonised wood with a commemorative coin from the Duke of Wellington’s funeral.
The lid has the front of the coin, which depicts a uniformed bust of the Duke “Arthur Duke of Wellington”.
The reverse of the box has the back of the coin, which depicts a figure of Britannia standing funerary plaque & trophy of arms, Victory kneeling, a crouched lion. The grave reads “Wellington born May 1 1769. Died Sept. 14 1852. “ whilst around the coin reads “Britannia mourns her hero now at rest. Waterloo June 18 1815.”.

The box has a height of 1.5 inches (3.8 cm) & a diameter of 2 inches (5 cm).
It weighs 80 g.
~ Condition ~
Aside from some minor chipping to the wood and some minimal wear to the metal the piece remains in good condition.
