~ c1900 Short & Mason Cased Barograph ~
A nice quality cased barometer by the British scientific instrument makers Short and Mason (1875 – 1969).
The barograph is set on a dark varnished wood base with slim storage drawer covered with a wood framed case with glass panels.
It features a brass drum with a seven day chart which houses the mechanical clock movement and an 11 tier vacuum set on a brass
base plate.
The plate is named ‘Short & Mason*, London’ and engraved with a serial no. of ‘5001/43’.
*Short & Mason Became Short & Mason Ltd in the early 1900’s so we may presume this pre dates the change.
~ Dimensions ~
The item measures 31cm (12 ¼ inches) by 16cm (6 ¼ inches) with a height of 17.5cm (6 ¾ inches).
It weighs 4.29 Kg.
~ Condition ~
The barograph although not tested for accuracy is in good working order.
There is some oxidation and flaking of finish to the working parts but is in a good overall condition with no damages and only
minimal wear to the wood case.
