~ c1920 Sitzendorf Porcelain Figurine Of A Lady Turnip Seller ~
A delicately crafted and beautifully hand painted Sitzendorf porcelain figure of a lady carrying turnips.
The lady is in typical period Georgian costume. She wears a brown skirt with yellow drape, a blue waistcoat, a pink scarf and a pale blue hat.
In her left hand she carries a bunch of small turnips.
She stands on a naturalistic base with flowers.
There is the blue Sitzendorf stamp with crown to the underside, as well as the word ‘Foreign’.
The ‘Foreign’ stamp was in use from just after the First World War, when importers would not handle items marked ‘Germany’.
~ Dimensions~
The piece stands approx. 8 inches (20cm) high and is 4 ½ inches (11.5cm) at its widest point. It weighs 369g.
~Condition~
The piece is in great condition with little wear and only one tiny chip to the edge of the skirt.
