~ Circa 1220 French Quill Pot ~
An early circa 1220-50 dated quill pot. The piece is made from cow bone & was sourced from France.
The front has a crucifix surrounded by a rope formed wreath. The reverse reveals two saints, both holding a crucifix close to their chests.
~ Dimensions ~
The piece has a height of 2.5 inches (5.3 cm) & a diameter of 1.6 inches (4.1 cm). It weighs 53 g.
~ Condition ~
The piece is in very good order other than a couple of long shrinkage cracks though it retains its structural integrity.
