~ Circa 1840 Steel, Gilt & Oil On Copper French Purse ~
The piece is made of cut steel with gilt decorations. These come in the form of floral decorations around the centre oil on copper piece, which depicts a municipal building in Paris, France.
Once opened, the interior reveals a small purse made with a silk lining, a small notepad with diary entries (written in French) sits at the centre. The first few pages of the diary have text written in pencil.
