The title "Dog Tray" is famously linked to Thomas Campbell's narrative poem The Harper, which tells the story of a faithful dog who stays by his master's side. In Victorian folklore, this motif became synonymous with heroic dogs. [1]
A splendid vase of a gentleman and his faithful friend. The waist coat is particularly nicely finished.

The piece is in good order, there is crackling to the glaze as well as minor paint loss.
