~ Circa 1880 Seth Thomas Mahogany Cased Ships Bulkhead Clock ~
The clock is housed in a mahogany barrel case.
The white enamel face has roman numerals with a seconds dial just below the 12 o’clock position as well as an adjustment lever. The two keyholes are placed in between the 8/9 o’clock & 3/4 o’clock positions.
The face surround is of steel.
The mechanism is a double wind, lever escapement, eight day, time only movement. It is stamped ‘Seth Thomas Thomaston Conn.’, ‘Made In U.S. America’ as well as the company logo.
It comes with a replacement key.
~ Dimensions ~
The dial has a diameter of 5.5 inches (13.9 cm). The clock has a diameter of 7.5 inches (19 cm) & a depth of 4.5 inches (11.4 cm). It weighs 2.23 kg.
~ Condition ~
The clock is in good working order but has not been serviced.
Some of the paint on the numerals is worn & chipped. The window catch is absent.
The wood has 3 holes measuring 0.7 cm below the six o’clock position from a prior mounting and some white paint traces along the right hand side but remains in otherwise good order.
