~ Circa 1900 West African Rams Head Tribal Mask ~
The piece depicts a stylised rams head with a white face and black horns and long eye slits. The ‘wool’ is made of reeds fashioned into pom-poms with a wound grass mesh to hold it in place on the bearers head. All rather striking. I believe this to be an Ivory Coast piece but all advice appreciated.
