~ Corgi 1st Issue Major Toys Set 23 Chipperfields Circus Models Boxed ~
Here we have a boxed Corgi 1st Issue Major Toys Set 23 Chipperfields Circus Models. This is the 1st issue which varies and is rarer than the 2nd issue.
The vehicles are:
A six wheeled red crane truck; it has ‘Chipperfields Circus’ logo on both sides. The crane height can be adjusted, it has four different elevation levels and the hook can be raised and lowered on a winch. It is stamped underneath “International, ‘6X6’, truck, corgi major toys, made in GT. Britain”
Two red animal cages, the designs are both the same however one holds two lions and the other holds two polar bears. They both have two cages and three sliding doors. The front wheels are both pivoted. One side has the logo ‘Chipperfields’, the other side has side panels which fold open to reveal the animals behind the cage, the cage has a transparent yellow plastic window to the roof which nicely illuminates both windows. They are both stamped underneath “Corgi Major Toys, Made in GT. Britain, Circus, Animal Cage”
A red Land Rover pickup truck, it has a hook at the back for towing. It is stamped underneath “Land Rover, 109” W.B., Corgi Toys, Patent Application 21101/59, Made In GT. Britain”
An elephant and cage on a trailer, the front wheels of the trailer are both pivoted. The elephant cage is plastic with metal bars; the cage doors open on a two-way hinge system to store the elephant. It is stamped underneath “Corgi Toys, Platform Trailer, Made in GT. Britain”.
A red booking office van, it has stickers present on all sides of the van. It is stamped underneath “Corgi Toys, Smith’s “Karrier” Van, Made In GT. Britain”
~ Dimensions ~
The box measures 16.5 inches (42 cm) long, 8 inches (20 cm) wide and 2.25 inches (5.5 cm) tall.
The complete set weighs 1.33Kg.
~ Condition ~
The box is in average condition for its age, it has some tape mark stains where tape was applied to seal the boxes. The lid to the box is in fair condition with wear to most edges and corners; from the bottom left hand corner is a large tear to the lid (photographed). The inner box is also in fair condition for its age, perhaps a little grubby to the underneath, slight wear to edges.
The crane is in excellent condition, a few minor paint chips to some edges; all moving parts are fully working. The two animal cages are in excellent condition, both have minor paint chips and a fully functional. The figures have no noticeable damage. The Land Rover is in excellent condition and has minor paint chips more noticeably to the edges, it lacks some tilt. The trailer and elephant are in excellent condition, the trailer has some paint chips, and the trailer hook has been damaged and seems to have been modified, the cage and elephant are excellent. The booking office van is in excellent condition with minor paint chipping, the stickers are quite firmly attached. The wheels are free moving but they do not feel as fluid as the other vehicles.
