Description

*England, 30 July 1966 – Original World Cup Final Programme, Wembley Stadium (England v West Germany)*

Original souvenir programme from the 1966 FIFA World Cup Final held at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, 30th July 1966 – the legendary match in which England defeated West Germany 4–2 after extra time to win their first and only World Cup.

Printed by McCorquodale & Co. Ltd. for the Football Association, the programme is 64 pages long, measuring approximately 17.8cm x 23cm. It features a striking colour cover with the Jules Rimet Trophy and Union Jack design, while the interior pages are printed in black and white, containing team profiles, official line-ups, advertisements, and photographs of the tournament organisers and players.

Includes portraits of Queen Elizabeth II (patron of The Football Association), the full England and West Germany squads, and period advertisements for Carlsberg, Bovril, English Electric, and Cadets cigarettes – a vivid snapshot of 1960s sporting and social culture.

Historical Note:
This programme was sold at the Empire Stadium, Wembley, for 2 shillings and 6 pence (2/6) on the day of the final. The match remains one of the most iconic in football history, remembered for Geoff Hurst’s hat-trick and Kenneth Wolstenholme’s immortal commentary: “They think it’s all over... it is now!” Authentic 1966 final programmes such as this are among the most desirable pieces of World Cup memorabilia.

*Condition*
Very good condition overall, with light handling wear to the cover and minor age toning to interior pages. The binding remains firm and pages are clean and complete. No writing or annotations observed.
