~ Frankenthal Figurine Of A Man Carrying A Sack 1762 1799 ~
The back stamp of the piece bears the initials CT (Carl Theodor) under a
crown. The piece can be dated to between 1762 to 1799.
The figure has the same black straps to hold the backpack that can be
seen on a Frankenthal figure of a child in the British Museum. The hands
are typical, being sinuous and elongated. The theme of the piece is in the
style of the farm scenes produced by the factory at this time.

The factory was originally in Strasbourg, France but moved to Frankenthal in
Germany when . Louis XVI established a state monopoly on porcelain
from the Sevres factory.The king of France said that Porcelain could
only be made by Sevres. The factory moved to Frankenthal in Germany
and closed soon after due to the Napoleonic wars.
~ Condition ~
The condition of the piece is very good. There are some nibbles on the
fingers. There are no stress cracks or other damage to the figurine.
