~ French Imperial Guard Circa 1806 Basket Hilted Sword ~
The sword is a pre-regulation pattern piece and dates to around 1806 to 1809.
Both sides of the single edged blade have a double full length fuller. There is a makers mark indistinctly signed to the inside of the flap. The heavy brass guard has 7 bars, an inner red leather liner and wired black leather grip.
~ Condition ~
There is a soldered repair to one of the bars, minor loss to the grip and the leather is worn with age, otherwise fine.

The sword is 112 cm (42 inches) in length with a 96 cm (36.75 inches) blade.
