~ French Victorian Bridal Dome – Globe de Mariée ~
A simple but elegant Victorian era Globe de Mariée, or Marriage/Bridal Globe.
In 18th century France it was tradition for a newlyweds to create a Globe de Mariee which a way for them to display and treasure their wedding souvenirs.
This dome houses a bouquet of white wax flowers with gold painted leaves and a bridal tiara of wax orange blossoms.
They are housed in a glass dome with a wooden base.
~ Dimensions ~
The item has a base diameter of 22 cm (8 ½ inches) and a height of 35.5 cm (14 inches).
It weighs 1.22 Kg.
~ Condition ~
The items have shifted in the dome, so are no longer nicely arranged, but having said that they still look nicely presented.
There is some discolouration of the item commensurate with age, which is to be expected.
The dome and base are in decent condition with no damages and only some wear to the velvet ribbon round the lower edge.
