In 1934 the German army adopted the Mauser Karbiner 98 kurz as the standard service rifle of the German Army. It remained in service until the end of the war in May 1945. Mauser Obendorf was the only manufacturer to produce the K98 from 1934-1945 (other manufacturers came and went). In 1945 Mauser Obendorfs code was SVW and they made two versions the 45 sand the MB. This is a great example of an early Mauser SVW 45 assembled at the end of WW2, in 1945. Many of these guns were assembled by the French after they took over the factory from the Germans at the end of WW2. This is likely to be German-assembled, given the numerous Waffenamt and lacks any French star proofs. The svw code is a fairly rare find, as only about 12,000 were serial numbered. This looks like it falls between the end of the K98 and the beginning of the simplified Kriegsmodel version as it has elements of both but still has a bayonet lug, cleaning rod, butt plate and the Mod.98 designation is still on the side of the receiver (it moved to the top in 1945 for production of the Kriegsmodel).

*Condition*
This rifle is in good condition. It is fully deactivated and the trigger does not move. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
