*German, WW2, Iron Cross 2nd Class (Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse) – Maker Marked “65” (Klein & Quenzer)*
A genuine Second World War Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse (Iron Cross 2nd Class), instituted 1 September 1939 and awarded for acts of bravery or exemplary leadership in combat. This example features the standard three-piece construction: a magnetic iron core with black lacquer finish, bordered by a silvered frame displaying correct beading and period wear. The obverse shows the raised 1939 date below a mobile swastika; the reverse displays the traditional 1813 date, marking the foundation of the award under Frederick William III of Prussia.
Suspension ring is clearly stamped “65”, the maker number for Klein & Quenzer A.G., Idar-Oberstein — one of the major, highly regarded EK manufacturers of the period. Comes complete with its correct red/white/black combat ribbon.

History Note:
The Iron Cross remained Nazi Germany’s most iconic combat decoration, seen across all branches of the Wehrmacht. Although awarded in huge numbers during the war, each piece retains a unique service story, with the 2nd Class awarded for frontline courage — often preceding higher grades such as the Iron Cross 1st Class or Knight’s Cross.
