*German, WWII Style, Waffen-SS Field Tunic with SS Collar Tabs and “Großdeutschland” Cuff Title, Reproduction Example, Large Size*
An imposing German WWII style field tunic constructed in feldgrau wool and configured in the style of a Waffen-SS service blouse. The tunic features a traditional four-pocket front with concealed button placket, straight collar, shoulder boards, and grey painted pebble-finish buttons typical of German military pattern uniforms.
The collar retains a pair of black cloth collar tabs, one bearing the SS runic device while the opposing tab carries two horizontal rank bars. Slip-on shoulder boards with black cloth backing and white piping are present, representing the traditional infantry Waffenfarbe used by the German Army. The right cuff is fitted with a black woven “Großdeutschland” cuff title in silver-grey script, a style historically associated with the elite Heer Panzergrenadier-Division Großdeutschland.
Internally the tunic is fitted with a synthetic quilted lining and retains inked size and depot-style markings stamped directly onto the lining. The visible stamp appears to read 55 / 50 above 11S above 83 / 70, together with a partially obscured marking possibly reading B12. These markings follow the general format of German military sizing grids commonly reproduced on later garments.

Historical Note:
During the Second World War the German armed forces employed a highly structured system of uniform insignia to identify branch, rank, and formation. Waffen-SS uniforms were distinguished by the use of SS runic collar tabs, while units of the German Army (Heer) wore their own distinct insignia. The “Großdeutschland” cuff title, for example, was worn exclusively by members of the elite Heer Panzergrenadier-Division Großdeutschland and related Army units.
As a result, SS collar runes and a Großdeutschland cuff title would not historically appear together on the same wartime uniform, as they represent two entirely separate organisations within the German armed forces. Combinations of this type are typically encountered on post-war display, reenactment, theatrical, or collector-assembled garments where insignia have been added to create a visually striking uniform rather than a historically accurate configuration.
The garment is also notably large when compared with typical wartime German uniform sizing, measuring approximately equivalent to a modern XXL, whereas original period tunics were generally produced in considerably smaller sizes.
*Condition*
Service-worn display condition. The wool body remains structurally sound with general age and handling wear. The tunic shows light surface wear and some minor marks consistent with storage and display. The synthetic lining is intact and retains the internal inked size stamps.
