~ Gosport King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Coronation Porcelain Beaker 1937 #1 ~
A commemorative porcelain beaker issued in 1937 to mark the coronation of George VI and Queen Elizabeth.
The beaker background is cream in colour.
To the front is a transfer print of King George and Queen Elizabeth. They are surrounded by oak branches.
Around the top of the beaker are the words “May 1937 Coronation of King George VI & Queen Elizabeth”.
To the back is a transfer print of the ‘GE’ cypher for George and Elizabeth.
The underside of the mug is printed with the official design mark. There is also another one reading “Major C.F.O. Graham” with the Viking ship coat of arms for Gosport, Hampshire.
~ Dimensions ~
The beaker is 4 ½ inches (11.5cm) in height with a diameter of 3 ¼ inches (8cm). It weighs 209g.
~ Condition ~
The beaker is in very good condition with very little wear and no cracks or chips (other than one manufacturing time one on the lower rim under the glaze). The glaze is crazed.
