~ Ladies Gold Plated French Pocket Watch ~
A lovely small gold plated ladies pocket watch dating to circa 1900.
The watch is marked ‘333’ which can indicate that the watch is 8ct gold. But as this is under the UK industry standard and the mark itself is unusual we are advertising this watch as gold plated to be on the safe side.
The watch has a beautifully engraved case. The bezel has a textured pattern while the case back has an image of a lady within a shield cartouche surrounded by more of the textured pattern engraving as seen on the bezel.
The watch has a white enamel dial with gilt floral decoration round the circumference.
It has Arabic numerals and two gold tone hands.
As already mentioned the inside of the case back is marked ‘333’ within three stars and also has a serial no. of ‘36972 214’.
The gold tone metal movement cover is marked Remontoir (French for stem-wind) Cylindre and indicates the movement has ten jewels (rubies to be precise).
The movement cover is marked with the same serial no. as seen on the case back.
The movement is not named.
~ Dimensions ~
The dial has a diameter of 20mm.
The watch has a diameter across the bezel of 27mm.
It weighs 18.9g.
~ Condition ~
There a few tiny hairline crack to the right hand side of the dial but these are only visible upon very close inspection.
The watch is otherwise in a very nice condition with minimal wear.
The watch is in good working order.
