~ Victorian Walnut Writing Slope ~
A nice walnut writing slope dating to the late Victorian period (possibly early 1900’s).
The writing slope is of walnut with brass fittings.
It opens to reveal a red baize interior.
Both side of the slope are fixed with brass catches and can be opened to reveal two storage areas.
The slope has a covered section to store pens and is complete with two glass ink wells with brass lids.
~ Dimensions ~
The slope when closed measures 35.5cm (14 inches) by 25cm (10 inches) with a depth of 15cm (6 inches).
When open has a length of 51cm (20 inches).
It weighs 2.99Kg.
~ Condition ~
There is a small section of damage to the inside edge of the slope.
The inkwells are well used but not damaged. One of the lids is clogged with dirt/ink and will need some work to get it unscrewed.
It is missing its key to the lock.
Overall the piece is in a nice condition with just light age wear both inside and out.
